I'm a futures trader who wanted to start a proprietary firm for discretionary traders. I needed a platform to track their trading statistics, as every trader has a unique trading identity. So therefore the best statistics are custom tailored to the trader. Trade tagging is one of the best methods to create custom data points for a trader to see where they have clear cut edge, and where they are struggling. This way they can focus on what's working and cut out whats not.
I originally wanted to use a specific journal platform, and contacted the founder. I needed them to add a specific trading platform that aloud the traders to import into the journal. The founder refused to add it. For me this was unacceptable and created a dead end. So I had my prop traders use spreadsheets which was horrible for statistical analysis. So I decided to hire an engineer and a trader to help design my brain child of the ultimate trading statistical software.
I've used a ton of trading journals and a lot of them have the ability to tag. This is the main way I found edge in my trading and helped others find it themselves. However tagging it's very sub par and almost an afterthought with a lot of these journals.
For example tags can not be renamed or altered. Which if you've done enough tagging you'll realize the need to edit them is so important. Being stuck with a tag name for your entire career is ridiculous. We have that feature as well as the ability to group tags and color code them. Other journals don't allow tag groupings, nor color coding. This way you can bundle technical analysis tags, or psychological tags in their own groups which helps organizing your data. The color coding helps with pie chart widget, equitcy curve widgets, and just tagging in general. Color is very helpful for me to know what tags I'm looking at quicker.
Also the filtering capabilities for your tags on other platforms is terrible. You can not go deep enough with your data to fully flush out where you have edge and where you're struggling so you can make the appropriate adjustments in your trading. Our filtering ability is deep. It can be visualized in numerous ways and you build a dash board that only displays the most important stats for you. You have the ability to fully customize your trading journal and statistics in a way that makes it feel like its truly designed for you.
The trade craft software was designed originally for my prop traders and myself. However the software is so good that it just makes sense to retail it. We have a free trial and we listen to the community. It's only going to get better as we have a road map on our website where you can see what we are working on and how we want to build truly the ultimate trade analytics software.
It's also very affordable as you get more for less compared to the competition.
It often feels like these things are not built by active traders, but coders, who may dabble in trading. The work flow is so bad on most platforms.
I'm personally not the engineer on this nor do I have coding experience. I however know how to read trade statistics and for me figuring out the fastest way to do it and most effective is what our software is designed to do.
I love talking to traders and the community. Feel free to ask me anything. If it's technical I can get the engineer to chime in.
