A list of people looking for work

Hi there, this is my first time posting :)

I was recently laid off after working for 9 years at the same company. So I hadn't really been exposed to what was required of workers to finding a job.

After like 5 hours of looking for work and applying for stuff I was blown away at how awful it is. You're applying for jobs on LinkedIn and there's hundreds of people applying to the same job. Employers are using AI to filter out applicants so they don't even get human eyes on their resume! Then workers use AI to write their resumes just to get past AI on the employers side?! The fact that employers also need recruiters to find people also goes to show how awful job searching and hiring is.

I decided to build a platform inspired from my job searching experience in my 20s. The platform is essentially a database of people looking for work.

• For workers:

  • Work situation you're looking for

  • Write a short bio

  • Tag some skills you have

  • Upload your resume

• For employers:

  • Browse the list using filters and keywords (keywords also search through the PDF resumes). If you found the

  • Contact them with the "Send Them An Email" button

I put this online on Tuesday last week. The website is up to 8 profiles with people from around North America at the moment. I only know 2 of persons looking for work! I also put made myself a profile obviously hahaha

I've never built a product on my own before but this has been a pretty fun project to work on. I just wanted to build something that could be helpful for people :)

I had an old colleague mention to me that I should try to make an API for this that I can give to HR companies like BambooHR or Rippling, etc. so that people would have more of a reason to put make profiles.

I'd love some feedback and how to get more people to make profiles. I've already posted this in my network on LinkedIn last week and some people shared it already but I don't really want to post this every week over there.
