Are product videos becoming a core growth lever?
In my last post, we talked about how video workflows are evolving.
Zooming out, I’ve been thinking about something bigger.
It feels like product videos are moving beyond “nice-to-have tutorials” and becoming embedded across the entire growth motion.
Not just:
• How-to videos
But:
• Onboarding flows
• Feature announcements
• Sales enablement
• Reducing support tickets
• Customer education
• Even async internal updates
In some teams, video is starting to feel like infrastructure – something you build into the product and growth engine from day one.
In others, it still feels reactive.
“Can someone record a quick demo?”
“Can we make a walkthrough for this launch?”
So I’m curious:
Are product videos becoming a strategic growth lever in your org?
Or are they still tactical and request-driven?
What are you seeing?

Funny you mention this – we were just discussing this exact topic in our team meeting! My colleague spotted this trend in another app and suggested we double down on video infrastructure.
It really feels like video is moving from acquisition (ads) to activation (onboarding).
Do you know of any recent studies or benchmarks that actually link video-first onboarding to higher retention or conversion rates?

@valeriia_kuna What a coincidence! Love this shift you’re pointing out, we’re seeing the same thing.
From what we’ve seen around onboarding, the real impact of video isn’t just higher engagement – it’s faster time-to-value. When onboarding videos are short, contextual, and tied to a specific action inside the product, more users complete key setup steps and reach their first “aha” moment quicker. That early activation is what drives retention, check https://www.clueso.io/blog/customer-onboarding-videos for more details.
We've also noted that 83% of users prefer video over text while onboarding. When users know exactly what to do and why it matters, drop-off reduces. This blog would help with more stats around video https://www.techsmith.com/blog/2026-video-statistics/.
When video is part of activation, not just acquisition, it starts influencing conversion and long-term stickiness.
@ashutosh_raj Nice! Thanks for these insights!

spot on, video's definitely shifting from "nice-to-have" to core infrastructure in smarter teams. We ae currently working on that. Given our daily life habits, scrolling and getting dopamine through videos, we adjusted also the way our users discover new places and plan their itineraries, again, through reels)
How often do you post product videos?
