Best way to collect reviews with small user base?
by•
I would like to gather a few quality reviews for our product, but I've hit a roadblock. Our users haven't opted-in to marketing emails, so I can't directly reach out to ask for feedback. (UK-based company, we'd be breaking GDPR).
After launching on PH, it was recommended that we get more reviews to social proof our product—that makes sense! But I've seen brands share some questionable reviews on their websites 😅 and I'd rather collect 3-4 genuine ones.
Right now, I'm thinking of adding a pop-up or banner inside our web app to ask users for feedback, and I'm slowly building a proper marketing email list for the future.
Meanwhile, does anyone have any creative (and ethical) ways to quickly collect a few solid reviews?
Would love to hear what worked for the PH community!

Your in-app idea is smart. I was in the same spot. I politely asked for a written review within our tool’s dashboard, offering a small thank you like a month of premium. I also realized if your product is being treated differently than your team intended, search identity discovery feedback. It’s a useful concept for closing that perception gap. For genuine reviews, direct, contextual asks work best.
