Building Voxly Solo: My Journey from Engineer to Indie Developer
Hi, I'm Alex,
From Engineer to Indie Developer: The Story Behind Voxly
I quit my job last year to become an indie developer. Voxly is a project I built from scratch, alone—development, testing, design, validation—I did it all.
Why Voxly?
I kept abandoning journaling because "I didn't know what to write." Instead of forcing myself to type, I built a tool where you just speak your mind.
Development Challenges:
• Voice recognition tuning: Spent countless hours testing OpenAI Whisper to ensure 95%+ Chinese accuracy
• Emotion analysis precision: Iteratively optimized algorithms so the system truly "understands" emotions
• Privacy vs community balance: Protecting privacy while enabling anonymous sharing—the hardest part
• Doing everything solo: UI/UX, backend, testing, deployment...every step was a learning curve
The Biggest Reward:
Despite the setbacks, when the first user said "finally found a journaling tool that works for me," every struggle became worthwhile.
Voxly is now live on App Store and Google Play. Try it and share your feedback!

@alexabc, building it all solo takes a lot of dedication!
Not sure why you quit your job. If you are comfortable, please share your journey.
One more thing. I couldn't find Voxly on the Play Store. Some other app shows up.
