Built a Mac app that blocks feeds, not whole apps

by

I built Monk Mode for people who do not want to uninstall YouTube, Reddit, or X, but do want the algorithmic junk gone.

It blocks the parts that usually pull me into a 45 minute detour:

- YouTube Home

- YouTube Shorts

- X For You

- Reddit front pages

- other feed surfaces

That was the whole point for me. I still wanted search, specific videos, direct links, and intentional use. Just not the infinite slot machine.

It is a native Mac app and it is $15 lifetime.

Would love blunt feedback from anyone here who has tried feed blockers before. What made them stick or fail for you?

@jamie42 The feed vs app distinction is the right cut, blocking all of YouTube is too blunt and never sticks. Curious whether you considered a schedule mode, like allowing feeds during certain hours, or was the goal always a hard block?
