Do you hate spending hours looking for parts?
Hey everyone,
I’m a former full-time wrench buster. The single biggest time-suck every day was parts lookup: scan VIN → AllData → dealer site → RockAuto → eBay → Amazon → local supplier → pray you didn’t order the wrong year. Then try to remember which $180 alternator screenshot was for which customer’s car. Sticky notes everywhere, 47 open tabs, pure chaos.
So I built the tool I always wanted in the bay:
BAYBOLT – point your phone at any VIN, it instantly decodes year/make/model/engine/trim, then you just type “brakes”, “alternator”, “control arm”, whatever – and it searches Amazon, eBay, RockAuto, PartsGeek, etc. all at once. Real photos, real prices, no sponsored garbage.
Tap the part → it goes straight into that vehicle’s project. Link to the part stays in your project! Add as many parts as you want → see running total → hit “Quote” → clean PDF with one click (customer actually understands it). Save everything to your Garage so nothing ever gets lost again.
It’s a PWA so it works offline, installs to your homescreen, and feels like a real app. Free users get 25 lookups/month, Pro is $79/mo unlimited + no ads.
Live now at https://baybolt.vercel.app while I finish the domain.
Would love for fellow techs to kick the tires and tell me what still sucks – I built this to use myself every day, so real feedback from people covered in brake dust is gold.
Thanks for looking! – ex-mechanic who’s still got grease under his nails
