Do you have a failing drive for backup?

by

We have launched MultiDrive today!

It’s a free Windows tool that helps you back up and clone old or failing drives.

What else it can do:

  • Run multiple tasks at once!

  • Pause long operations and resume them later

  • Securely erase data before reselling or recycling a drive

  • Use hash for data integrity

  • Automate your workflow with CLI

Your support means a lot to us! ❤️

I once had a failing HDD, and it was a challenge to make a clone of this drive. Is it possible to clone an HDD with bad sectors using MultiDrive?

@serhii_pavlenko Sure! MultiDrive is built to handle problems that prevent standard cloning tools from working.

We use a special algorithm that helps you clone or back up such drives:

  • If there's a read error, the utility will send a command to reset the drive's hardware.

  • It tries again to read the file after waiting a longer time. This gives the unstable media more time to respond.

  • If the second attempt fails, the bad block is skipped, and the cloning process continues.

  • The corresponding 256KB block on the target drive is filled with zeros to keep the final data usable.
