GPT's Creator - I’d love to hear your thoughts

by

I’ve been building a lot of custom GPTs for niche use cases lately, and every time I create one that’s actually useful… I run into the same problem: I can’t monetize it inside the GPT Store.

Right now:

  • All GPTs on the store are free

  • There’s no way to offer paid or private versions

  • No control over who uses them, or how often

So I started wondering:

What if there were a simple way to turn your GPT into a paid product,

without needing to code or build a full app around it?

🧪 I’m exploring an idea that might help solve this, but before anything, I’d love to hear from other builders.

🧠 A few quick questions:
1. Is this just my problem and the solution already exists... or is this something others are running into too?

2. Have you ever wanted to sell or restrict access to a GPT you built?

3. Would you use a platform where you could bring your own OpenAI/Claude/Gemini API key and start charging users instantly?

4. Does a no-fixed-cost, revenue-share-only model sound fair to you?

5. What’s been your biggest blocker when trying to monetize a GPT?

💬 I’d love to hear your experience, opinions, frustrations, or ideas.

If you're a GPT builder, you’re exactly the person I’m trying to understand better.

Thanks in advance, your feedback really matters 🙏

Hey there! 👋 Thanks for bringing up such an important topic — I think a lot of GPT builders are facing the same challenges. Here are my thoughts:

1️⃣ You’re definitely not alone! Monetizing GPTs inside the current GPT Store feels pretty limited right now. Having paid or private versions would be a game-changer. 💸

2️⃣ Absolutely, I’ve wanted to sell access to some of my custom GPTs but didn’t find an easy way to do it without building a full app around them. 🚧

3️⃣ A platform that lets you plug in your own OpenAI/Claude/Gemini API key and start charging users instantly sounds amazing — simple and powerful! 🔑💰

4️⃣ The no-fixed-cost, revenue-share-only model feels fair and low-risk, especially for indie builders like us. 👍

5️⃣ Biggest blocker for me has been lack of flexible access control and payment integration without heavy dev work. 😓

Really excited to see what you come up with! Keep us posted, and thanks for involving the community in this. 🙌✨
