Have you ever thought "This meeting could've been an email..."?
Have you ever left a meeting and thought:
“Why did this need to be a meeting?”
I feel like this happens more than any of us admit.
We sit through calls where:
– No decisions are made
– No actual work moves forward
– Half the people barely speak
– And everyone walks away thinking, “That could’ve been so much shorter.”
But here’s the interesting debate:
Are meetings the problem, or the way we use them?
Some people say meetings are essential for connection, alignment, and speed.
Others argue they’re the biggest productivity killer in modern work.
So I’m curious:
Do you think teams rely on meetings because they're necessary… or because it’s just the default?
Would async updates really replace most meetings, or would it make things worse?
Would love to hear both sides.
