How we reduced failed deliveries on Shopify by fixing a problem most merchants ignore
Hi everyone,
I’m part of the team behind Address Validation iO, a Shopify app we built to solve a surprisingly common and costly issue: customers entering incorrect shipping addresses during checkout.
We started working on this after seeing how many merchants were losing time and money to failed deliveries, returns, and frustrated support tickets. What we learned is that many stores try to fix this after the order is placed — but by then, it’s already a problem.
So we built something simple: an app that checks the address in real time, as the customer types, and prompts them to fix errors before placing the order. Since launch, stores using it have seen fewer failed shipments and a drop in delivery-related support requests.
Curious to hear from others:
Have you had this issue on your store or project?
What’s your approach to handling shipping mistakes?
Have you tried address validation in other tools or platforms?
Happy to share insights from what we’ve learned building the app, and also curious what others are doing around delivery accuracy and fulfillment UX.
Looking forward to the discussion.
