I built an app that turns screen time into a budget you earn at the gym
Two problems I couldn't solve separately:
Phone addiction (5+ hours of screen time daily)
Gym inconsistency (2x/week, maybe)
So I coupled them & made them solve each other.
How it works:
LOCKEDIN is an iOS app that treats screen time like a bank balance. You earn minutes by working out (syncs with Apple Health). You spend them on your blocked apps. When you hit zero, you're locked out until your next workout.
The insight that made it click:
I only go to the gym once a day. So whatever I earn, I have to stretch until tomorrow. That forced scarcity changed the way I interact with my distracting apps. I actually think before I open Instagram now - "is this worth spending my balance?". This has made me way more intentional with my phone usage.
A month in: screen time 5h → ~ 90 min, gym 2x → 5x/week.
Four difficulty modes:
Easy: 1 min workout = 2 min screen time
Medium: 1 min workout = 1 min screen time
Hard: 2 min workout = 1 min screen time
Extreme: 3 min workout = 1 min screen time
Finishing up the iOS app now. Free, no ads, no account required.
