I got tired of boring AI chats, so we made episodic character chat with secrets and plot twists

I've been playing with AI chatbots for months, and they're all... aggressively helpful? Like, they just want to be your friend and agree with everything. Where's the drama? Where's the "oh SHIT" moment when a character reveals they've been lying to you the whole time?

So my co-founders and I built Caffy.io.

What it actually is

Imagine if AI characters could:

That's Caffy. It's less "AI companion" and more "interactive drama you play through conversations."

How it works

Scenarios, not just chat


We write actual story setups with conflict and secrets. Choose a scenario and jump into the scene. Each scenario has unique "objective" you need to achieve.

Real memory


Characters remember everything. No more chatbots losing memory every 10 chats.

Multiple modes


You can do 1:1 chats, or full RPG.

Why we're building this

Honestly? We were lawyers. Our whole job was understanding human behavior, incentives, and consequences. When we started playing with AI, we kept thinking "this is too flat, too easy."

Good stories need tension. Characters need flaws. Conversations need stakes.

So we started a side hustle and spent the few months building this. (My parents are still confused.)

Where we're at

Launched Sept 9. Currently in open beta. Everyone gets 100 free beans daily in October—no strings attached, just want people to play.

Just shipped an update last week with message deletion, real-time streaming, and better content discovery. Moving fast based on what players tell us.
