I thought I was good at spreadsheets… until they started running my life!
Somewhere along the way, I realized half my day was disappearing into tabs, formulas, and copy-paste gymnastics. It wasn’t even the “work” part that drained me, it was all the tiny frictions: fixing a broken cell, hunting through endless rows, or repeating the same setup over and over. Honestly, it felt like the spreadsheets were in charge, not me.
Out of frustration, I built something small that grew into Xslar.com
. It’s essentially a lightweight layer on top of spreadsheets that transforms messy data into something more organized and easier to work with. Nothing flashy, just a way to make the whole process feel less like fighting a machine. Friends started using it, and their first reaction was usually: “Wait, why don’t spreadsheets already do this?” That’s when I realized I wasn’t the only one needing an escape hatch.
