KidWhispers: Personalized Storybooks Where Kids See Themselves
Hey Product Hunt đź‘‹
This all started one night at bedtime when my son whispered, “That’s me!” as he opened a storybook. That moment stuck with me — because when kids see themselves in a story, something magical happens: they lean in, giggle, and the story suddenly feels alive.
When I went looking for personalized storybook sites, I found two patterns:
• Cartoonized versions that kinda, sorta looked like your child
• Cookie-cutter books with face swaps dropped into prewritten templates
Neither gave the feeling we were after. I wanted a way to create any story, on any topic, where a child appears as a fully lifelike character inside a storybook world — not a caricature, not a copy-paste.
It turned out to be way harder than expected. AI almost always wants to stylize or cartoonize humans. Getting a true human likeness to live naturally inside a storybook scene felt close to impossible. After hundreds of hours experimenting, we finally figured out how to do it — and that’s how KidWhispers was born.
The best part? That moment when your child sees themselves and the story truly becomes theirs. Bedtime transforms into giggle time, bonding time, and “Read it again” time.
I’d love to hear from the community:
If you’ve read a story to a child that really captivated them, what made it so special?
Or for parents: what little details make a story feel personal and unforgettable for your kids?
