We’re launching Sleepless Tradesman on Product Hunt next week.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been studying launches — especially ones that “did everything right.” Strong audience, pre-launch buildup, engaged community — and still the results varied wildly.

It made me realise something: Product Hunt seems to reward momentum, but momentum doesn’t always equal product-market fit.

We’re building for tradespeople: electricians, plumbers, sole traders — an audience that isn’t hanging out on Twitter or debating AI tooling. They’re on job sites. In vans. Sending quotes at 9pm.

Which raises a genuine question for founders here:

When launching on PH, what mattered more for you?

• Pre-existing audience?

• Launch-day coordination?

• Or clarity of problem solved?

And for anyone building outside the “tech-native” bubble — did you find PH translated into real users, or mostly founder attention?

Would love to learn from those who’ve been through it.

Trying to approach this launch thoughtfully rather than just chasing upvotes.
