Left my job to build full time. Distribution hit harder than expected.
Hey Product Hunt,
I’m Joséphine. About six months ago, I left my job at an AI research lab to focus on building full time. Since then I’ve explored a few directions and learned pretty quickly what I enjoy and what I don’t.
Lately I’ve been focused on creative, consumer projects. I recently built a personalised comic product that turns people’s stories into printed comics, and saw strong uptake around Christmas.
The main takeaway so far is that AI works best for me when it enables hyper-personalisation and leads to a physical outcome. Building was fast but distribution was the real challenge, and the part I’m now spending most of my time on.
I’m here to learn from others who’ve launched consumer or creative products. What helped you most when you were figuring out early distribution?
Nice to meet you all!

Distribution is hard indeed. What kind of channels are you currently exploring? The comic book you described feels like a product for Etsy. But I know it isn't easy at all to promote your store there because of competition. Also, it's a bit risky to build a strategy on a third-party platform, so it definitely makes sense to try building your own platform and use social media for distribution. Cheers!
@yulianazarenko yes absolutely Esty is a great channel and I have heard great stories. I am now trying to expand beyond the one-off gift and creating a full creative suite, so let's see how that goes!
