šŸš€ Seeking Advice: How to Get Early Users for My AI Children’s Storybook Generator (genstory.app)

by•

Hi Product Hunt community!

I’m a solo founder building an AI-powered children’s storybook generator called genstory.app — a tool that lets parents, creators, and teachers instantly generate immersive, illustrated storybooks (up to 50 pages) with just a prompt.

I built it because I recently became a parent. Every night my kid asks me to ā€œtell a new story,ā€ and I started using AI to create unique bedtime stories. Eventually, that experiment grew into a product.

Now the challenge:

šŸ‘‰ I don’t know how to get my first real users.

I’m not from a growth/SEO background, and I’d love to hear advice from people who’ve grown early-stage content/creation tools, especially SEO-driven projects.

What I’ve done so far

  • Built a working product (story + images auto-generated, exportable)

  • Added moderation + quality checks (using Gemini models)

  • Added long-form generation (up to 50 pages)

  • Launched a minimal landing page

  • Did a bit of early SEO (but not sure if the direction is right)

What I need help with šŸ™

For those experienced in SEO / content tools / PH launches:

  1. How can I attract my first 200–500 seed users?

Should I focus on SEO first, content marketing, or PH launch?( I’ve already wasted one of my Product Hunt launch opportunities- -!

  2. Is SEO even a good channel for an AI storybook product?

Many keywords are competitive—should I niche down?

(e.g., bedtime stories, classroom materials, ESL learning)

  3. What kind of content would be worth publishing early?

Tutorials? Free storybooks? Parent guides? AI prompts?

  4. Any examples of similar ā€œAI creation toolsā€ that grew organically?

I’m especially interested in what worked during their early days.

  5. Feedback on the site itself

Any UX, onboarding, or feature advice that could help retention?

Why I really care about this project ā¤ļø

I’m a new parent and every night I actually use genstory.app with my kid — she gives me the ā€œprompt,ā€ I generate the story, and we read it together.

It genuinely improved our bedtime routine, and I’d love for more families, teachers, or creators to experience that.

If anyone has time to give feedback, share growth tips, or be an early tester, I’d be incredibly grateful.

Thank you to everyone who reads this — building alone can be hard, and your advice means a lot.

I’ve already been posting on Twitter for a month, but it doesn’t seem to be gaining any traction.
