Hi PH Community – I completely rewrote this location-based audio guide iOS app I originally built in 2008, now with modern SwiftUI and OpenAI text-to-speech. Please give it a try and share your feedback! Cheers, Björn

Rebuilding WikiTrip from scratch in SwiftUI instead of bolting on features takes serious discipline. Place name pronunciation across 19 languages is the hard part though. OpenAI handles common cities fine but obscure landmarks and local dialects still trip up every TTS provider I've tested. Pre-generating and caching audio per article would help keep latency down on drives.

@piroune_balachandran Yes, that ia definitely an issue with TTS. Caching is a good idea too!

@bjoern2000 Looks cool, I will try it on my next trip... Are there any country restrictions, or is it available everywhere?

Björn

@diegodau Thank you! It is available globally, as long as there are Wikipedia articles for locations within 5 km radius :)
