A Message from the Maker: Why I Built Wildbox (and Why It's Free)
Ciao Product Hunt community 👋
Fabrizio here, the (currently solo) builder behind Wildbox. I'm incredibly excited (and a bit terrified!) to share this with you all.
For the last 20 years, I've been deep in the trenches of security, working for any kind of actors. I saw the same story over and over: brilliant teams forced to wrestle with 7, 10, even 15 different security tools, spending in licenses, and completely trapped by vendor lock-in. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, I started building. In my spare time, fueled by coffee and a deep frustration with the status quo, I created Wildbox.
It's not just another tool. It's my answer to the question: "What if you could have an entire, enterprise-grade Security Operations Center, unified in a single platform, that you actually control?"
Wildbox brings together:
SIEM & Log Correlation
SOAR (Automated Response)
WAF (Web Application Firewall)
Threat Intelligence (from 50+ feeds)
Endpoint Monitoring
...and it's all powered by a modern stack with AI for deeper analysis.
Why is it 100% open-source (MIT) and free?
Because I believe fundamental security isn't a "premium feature". It's a right. I want to empower teams to own their security infrastructure, not just rent it from a vendor. The plan is to build a sustainable business around optional customized setups but the core platform will always be free and features-full.
I just made the project public a couple of days ago, and the initial reaction from the open-source community has been amazing.
I'm here all day to answer every single one of your questions. I'm especially looking for your brutal feedback on:
The Onboarding: Is the "5-minute install" promise real for you?
The Vision: Does a unified, open-source approach actually solve a pain point for your team?
The "Wow" Factor: Which feature excites you the most? What's glaringly missing?
Thank you so much for checking it out. This is a labor of love, and I can't wait to see what we can build together.
Cheers,
Fabrizio
