Instant dictation for desktop. Press a shortcut, speak, and instantly get accurate text on your clipboard—perfect for emails, coding, AI prompts, or brain dumps.
👋 Hey Product Hunt fam! I’m Luke, the solo maker behind Voice Gecko, and I’m super excited to be launching today
🦎 What’s Voice Gecko? Voice Gecko is a lightweight desktop app that lets you code (or write anything) with your voice. Instead of pecking at the keyboard and fixing typos, you just say what you want — and it appears instantly in your editor, usually in milliseconds.
💡 Why I built it Honestly… I kind of suck at typing. I fat-finger keys all the time and spelling slows me down. But when I’m coding in @Cursor, I realized how much easier it is to just speak my thoughts, brain-dump context, and describe requirements out loud. That way the AI has everything it needs to generate the best possible code — and I can focus on building instead of fixing typos.
🚀 Why try it?
⚡️ Super fast transcription (milliseconds, not seconds)
👨💻 Perfect for developers writing code & commands
✍️ Great for writers, note-takers & anyone who thinks faster than they type
🛠️ Works seamlessly alongside tools you already use e.g: @Slack , @Jira, and @Notion
🙌 Join me on this journey I’d love for you to download Voice Gecko, give it a spin, and share your feedback. Every comment, suggestion, and upvote helps me make it better.
I love talking to my computer, so congrats! What's the difference to @Wispr Flow? First Launch 1yr ago.

@lukem121 this is so unfair because you're fueling my desire to stop typing and speak more and I love it.
I'm someone who's always so lazy to type because my brain works faster, I have always wanted to just speak offline while it's been typed out by a system and I love this because it's going to be a game changer.
Are there other languages other than English?

Looks nice - and love you launched with Windows first. ;-)
How is Voice Gecko different/better than Wispr Flow or Aqua Voice (which I use currently)?
Report
@jashenk +1. I also would like to know how and in which way, specifically, it is different from Aqua Voice and Super Whisper, both of which have Windows apps. I understand that it works offline, and I applaud that, but I was not able to find out on your website what technologies or third-party processors are used for AI post-processing.

Looks promising! Does it work on terminal (iTerm2)? Use case: Claude code CLI instructions needs way too much typing..
Superb! sounds really interesting too. Being able to write or code just by speaking could actually save a lot of time. I like that it works offline too. Curious to see how well it understand technical terms in real use.
@roozbehfirouz It works offline, as all dictations run locally and no audio recordings leave your machine.

@roozbehfirouz@lukem121 I immediately thought this as a Wispr Flow clone, but the moment you say it works offline, it actually solves a lot of problems. I mean, running into a lot of latency issues on the current dictation app I am using and this could totally change the problem. We'll give it a try. Thanks for making this and all the best!

Love that. Does it work offline or rely on cloud?
