Monzo, Revolut and Starling—often called the challenger banks—have built billion-dollar businesses around the perception that they've revolutionised banking. 🤯 -- But are they actually any better? I spent 3 months benchmarking them all to find out.
Love all the memes and UX tips.
Crazy that basically everyone starts from scratch, rather than learning from UX best practice and trying to improve on the competition.
Almost like there is no competitor ion and that they have a license to print money... oh...

Hey all,
I'm the founder of Built for Mars, which is a blog all about UX.
I normally do smaller (60-100 slides) case studies on companies, but for the last 3 months I've been working on a much bigger project (this).
I wanted to properly benchmark all of the banks in the UK, and highlight what the real differences are between the challenger banks (Monzo, Revolut & Starling), and the more traditional banks (Barclays, Co-op, First Direct, HSBC, Metro, Nationwide, Natwest, Lloyds, Santander).
The publication is free, and has been designed to help designers and product-builders by highlighting what the banks have done really well, and also the mistakes they've made.
I hope it helps some of you craft better products!
