If your therapist designed a money management app, Allo is what you’d get. What makes it so unique is its holistic approach meant to soothe and reduce your anxiety, while guiding you on reflecting and improving your relationship with money.
Really love what @ptmw and team are doing with Allo. I recently got married so this mindful approach to finances means so much to us right now. Where do you see the product evolving after budgeting & spending organization/management?

Congrats on another game changing launch Paul and William! Curious how you’re thinking about data protection and monetization. Is Allo secure and will you ever sell my data or show me ads?
@shailorao thanks for asking. Privacy and security are very important to us. We use Plaid — a mature, industry-leading service that allows us to not see or store your financial credentials. All of the data we receive are encrypted at rest with bank-level security. We will also never show you distracting ads or sell your financial data. It’s very important to us that we don’t have any conflicts of interest, and that we stay true to our mission of helping you improve your relationship with money.
@laura_holmes1 Thank you Laura! Personally, I lean more avoidant when it comes to money & have definitely carried a bit of a money belief along the lines of "the less I think about money, the better".
As I've worked on Allo and used the product myself, the most notable change has been how it has actually made my daily interactions with money to be more positive — a moment to be grateful for & to get in better with my values — not something to be avoided. At the same time, I actually also find myself spending *less* time engaging with various bank/investment/money apps, because I've found a 5-minute weekly session with Allo to be enough in dispelling any low-grade anxiety or uncertainty about money I might carry.
I love this reframing of money as not an object but an instrument for our overall well-being. There are so many problems that can be tackled around money... I wonder where you're focusing first? The majority problem will be lack of money. How do they navigate financial hardship, redirect spend across categories, save more, etc.? I totally see mindfulness as a powerful tool to support this journey. And then there are those that have disposable income and may be spending it in desperate search for fulfillment but may or may not be finding it. How can mindfulness guide them in that journey? Anyhow... rambling a bit, but it's a sign of how excited I am with this product! Congrats everyone!
@pablomendes Thank you Pablo for the kind words! We are really excited, and at the same time realize financial stress is a huge challenge with so many different facets as you pointed out.
We are focusing first on your mindset and values-alignment around money, because those are two huge factors in how satisfying your finances can be, at whichever level of wealth you happen to be at. Yes, it won't solve everything for everyone, and some financial hardships are truly difficult to overcome without simply increasing your wealth, but we've felt that your mindset around money is a huge "tool" all of us have more control over, and an often overlooked one at that.
In a nutshell, mindfulness practice is getting in better touch with truly where money is helping you in living the way you want to live, and where it's hurting. Positive behavior change is tough, but we think is only sustainable when rooted in a deep understanding in this area!
@pablomendes We'd love to! And perhaps we can pick your brain when it comes time to expand into the Brazilian market :-)
We are currently only in the US to make sure the experience is great when connecting with accounts based on the financial institutions here, but we would love to make Allo available in more places soon.

Congrats on the launch. I’m curious what knowledge sources you’re using to derive the guidance portion of the product.
@chan316 Thank you Chris! Thankfully for us, there are lots of resources out there, and so many people who have written on the intersection of money, values, psychology, and emotions.
Working on this product has led us to engage with much of it, and we've collected a few of them under the "Resources" tab in Allo — we encourage everyone to check it out!
Some of the one I want to highlight here that especially influenced our design of Allo:
The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel
Happy Money by Elizabeth Dunn
Mind over Money by Brad Klontz
I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi

Very cool! Nice to see a new, unique take on money and budgeting that focuses on so much more than just the dollars and cents. Good luck!
@jakey12 thanks for the kind words! It's so awesome to be able to share this with the product hunt community.

I am so excited about this app. Paul and Will, I think you are both such amazing product thinkers and this is an area I care deeply about. I love the examples you highlight below, Paul. I really want to add more of this mindful money practice in my life. Thank you both!
