I made this website because I was trying to find a book to read and was disappointed in the current state of book recommendation services. I wrote about making this website in an article published here: https://medium.com/p/what-book-i... where I detail what improvements I tried to make over the current state-of-the-art.
Basically, I tried to make a recommendation service that:
1. Never suggest sequels (why would you read the sequel without reading the first?)
2. Use multiple genres instead of a single genre
3. Never show multiple books from the same author
4. Never use data from what other people liked
5. Has utmost simplicity and speed
