Chip Builder: Puzzle game where you build a working CPU from logic gates

Hi Product Hunt! We are Laurentiu and David, the two developers behind Chip Builder.

Chip Builder is a puzzle game about how computers really work. You start with one logic gate. Level by level, you build adders, memory, an ALU and finally a working CPU. The game checks every circuit against its real truth table, so you can't guess your way through.

Later chapters show how chips are made in a fab and how AI accelerators work. In FAB CEO you run a chip company for 35 years. In Build a Computer you build your own computer from NAND gates and then play Snake on it.

Chip Builder is out now on Steam and the Epic Games Store. We would love to hear which level made something click for you, and where you got stuck.

Which part of how a computer works still feels like magic to you?

We launch Chip Builder on Product Hunt on November 2. It is a puzzle game where you start with one logic gate and finish with a working CPU that you wired yourself.

While we built it, we kept asking one question: which step makes people say "oh, so that's how it works"? Maybe it is the adder, the first flip-flop that remembers a bit, or the moment a CPU runs its first program.
