Hi everyone, Nav here from the Dabble engineering team. It's been a ton of fun building Dabble over the past year and seeing how much the product has evolved since we got started. Over the course of developing the product there's been a ton of interesting problems to solve! One thing that we've emphasized at Dabble is using ML to make the little things easier. As an example, we noticed that most websites have a ton of irrelevant images (banners, logos, duplicates of different sizes, etc), that would fill up our clipper extension when trying to save a product. Different vendor websites are inconsistent with how these images are laid out, and so we decided to build and deploy an ML-based system in the browser to bubble up the "best" images to the top. We've called this system HeroNet (since it finds the "hero" images), and it looks to prioritize images of furniture with clean backgrounds facing forward, at an angle, or sideways, over context images and closeups. Below is an example of how our extension ranks images, compared to Pinterest! We found that this reduced a significant amount of friction in the clipping process, and is one of the many ways we're using AI to help make things a little easier when you're designing your dream space.

As a small startup, we're always looking for creative ways to supercharge our product using AI, and this is definitely something we're planning to continue doing as we move from 2D to 3D and work our way to a future of spatial e-commerce. I love Dabble!! I really need to visualize my designs before purchasing and while I'm adequate at Photoshop, Dabble makes it so much easier! I love how it automatically removes backgrounds of the products you clip, and also links back to them when you want to purchase. I've been using it since around its inception and the developers have really improved it so much over the last year, taking into account real user feedback. Now you can add windows and doors in your room mock-up, for example, to emulate your space more precisely. It's a great community and I look forward to continuing to use it!

@make_good Good question! If you can visually see the semi-transparent item in picture (which for online furniture listings it should!), we should be able to clip it. It will get better though as we build more specialized furniture specific algorithms to do it
