Reviews of VentureStaking® by Doriot® praise its novel way to secure future investing rights while committing capital only after traction, highlighting lower risk and better alignment among founders and backers. Users say it widens access to early-stage investing, supports non-traditional founders, and encourages diversified portfolios. Many commend the team’s expertise and vision, calling the approach practical and timely. A developer notes it rethinks VC mechanics in a relatable, poker-like framework. Overall, sentiment centers on accessibility, incentive alignment, and potential to reshape early funding dynamics.
How do you evaluate which entrepreneurs are ‘prepared enough’ for staking, and what signals or metrics help you predict future breakout success before traction is proven?
Fantasy Startup
@benjamin_lu4 Nobody is prepared to launch a business. When they come to us, we'll check their background and better understand their intentions, and advise them whether or not they're ready and, if not, what to think about. That being said, they are free to take the QAI Exam and apply to enter into any Doriot Licensed Arena of their choosing. And then, ultimately, the Crowd in the Arena decides who becomes a Doriot Fellow.
How do you plan to advertise and normalize this new form of venture capital? Do you see any potential threats or setbacks from the traditional venture capital industry?
Fantasy Startup
@grady_hadar We're heading to the Frontier. There will be threats and setbacks. Joining us?
Will venture staking be able to be used by all types of startups? Or will there be certain candidates who would fit best using venture staking over traditional VC?
Fantasy Startup
@abigail_blythe Many founders that are VentureStaked® will raise from traditional venture (i.e. Angles/VCs). It's not an either or situation.
Fantasy Startup
@abigail_blythe All types!!! We never know what comes from a seed when planted. Someone that starts a bakery could very well create an empire!
This flips the venture model in such a clever way. I’m curious how you plan to vet founders before offering VentureStakes? Will there be a community-driven review process or some kind of due diligence layer?
Fantasy Startup
@minh_phan14 Founders will go through three stages of vetting:
Doriot Foundation – Founders must pass background checks and complete the QAI (Qualified Accredited Investor) Certification.
Arena Admission – Founders then must be accepted into an Arena to pitch. Arenas will be geography-based, university-based, or mission-based, with additional “general” Arenas available. This structure ensures founders are matched with the VentureStakers® most aligned with their vision.
VentureStaker® Decision – Once in an Arena, it’s the VentureStakers® who decide which founders receive a Doriot Fellowship and the accompanying $200,000 grant to launch R&D by pledging enough VentureStakes®. In this sense, the VentureStakers® are voting on who receives a Fellowship.

@minh_phan14 Yep! See comments above!
This is a really cool idea! It makes early-stage investing feel way more accessible and less risky. I like how it gives people a way to support founders early without needing a ton of money up front. How do you decide which founders get on the platform?
Fantasy Startup
@nicholas_ventura See comments above!
I'm glad I got to learn more about what VentureStaking involves and its importance! One question: how do you make sure the startups that join VentureStaking align with what you look for in them? Is there something that is done before people can invest?
Fantasy Startup
@shriya_rajagopalan see the comments above. Founders go through 2 independent reviews before being allowed to enter an Arena to pitch to VentureStakers®
Fantasy Startup
@shriya_rajagopalan Yes, see some of the comments above. Founders have to be licensed by the Doriot Foundation, then they have to be accepted into an Arena before VentureStakers® decide.
Amazing vision… love the idea of democratizing venture investing.
How do you envision people who stake in startups through VentureStaking being involved? Could you envision founders leveraging this almost as a cohort of early launch advocates to build momentum in a unique way? @gerryhays
Fantasy Startup
@jackson_troxel yep, the idea is that Founders will emerge from the Doriot Fellowship with a great plan and committed community of financial backers.
