When we started, we kept seeing the same problem: people had to jump between PC builders, benchmark videos, Reddit threads, compatibility tools, price trackers, and retailer websites just to answer a few basic questions: Will these parts work together? How many FPS will I actually get? Am I choosing the right components for my budget? And am I really getting a good deal? Our first goal was simply to make hardware prices easier to compare. But as the project grew, we realized that price alone was not enough. A cheaper component is not always better, and a more expensive PC does not automatically deliver a better gaming experience. So DropReference evolved into an all-in-one platform where users can build a complete PC, check compatibility, compare components, estimate performance across 130+ games, track price history, and find the best available offers. One of the biggest changes in our approach was moving away from purely technical recommendations. Most people do not want to choose between dozens of CPUs and GPUs—they want a PC that fits their budget, runs their favorite games, reaches their target FPS, and looks the way they want. That is why we created both a guided builder for beginners and a more advanced builder for experienced users. Today, DropReference helps hundreds of thousands of visitors make better hardware decisions, but we still feel like we are only getting started.
