Famly Safe solves the problem of lack of knowledge of family records and acts as a shared private space for family members. It keeps record of the family's assets (with ownership splits), insurance policies, bank accounts (last 4 digits only), and documents. The stand-out features are powerful in-app reminders, so the next time the house tax is due, you're alerted and you don't end up paying fines, and the clear owner and viewer permissions considering the importance of the information stored.
Famly Safe started with a problem I faced myself.
I was looking to buy health insurance for myself and contacted multiple insurance companies. One agent asked if I wanted to convert it into a family plan.
I realized I had no idea whether my family members already had health insurance.
Later, I realized this wasn't just my problem. Most of us have very little visibility into what our family members own, what they're insured for, where important documents are, or even what accounts they have.
That lack of visibility can lead to unnecessary expenses, missed payments, uncovered risks, and, in some cases, assets not being passed on to the right people.
That's why I built Famly Safe — a private, shared family vault for everything important.
Families can keep track of:
Assets and ownership splits
Insurance policies and who they're covering
Bank account references (last 4 digits only)
Important documents
The goal is simple: your family should know what your family owns.
How I built it
FigJam — Ideation, information architecture, entities, relationships and permissions.
DBDiagram — Turned the data model into a relational database structure.
Claude Design — Designed the UI. I spent a considerable amount of time here working through the onboarding flow, navigation, typography, icons and all the tiny details that make an app feel polished.
ChatGPT — Once the architecture and UI were finalized, I used ChatGPT to create the CLAUDE.md that captured the product context and development instructions. I used ChatGPT here because it had the context of the application from the very beginning.
Claude Code — Built the actual application using Expo, React Native and TypeScript, with Supabase (Postgres + RLS, Auth, Storage and Edge Functions) as the backend.
RevenueCat — Integrated subscriptions and in-app purchases.
Built from an idea, architecture and a lot of iteration to a live App Store product.
