When you import video files into the project, they get optimized into a GPU-friendly format for fast playback. You can export video files using hardware acceleration or high precision software encoding for maximum fidelity. It's designed from the ground up on Metal and CoreGraphics on macOS, Vulkan for Linux, Direct2D and Direct3D on Windows. There are no abstraction layers or cross-platform frameworks between you and the system to slow you down. You are talking to the system. This makes it FAST!
