Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Jan, a solo developer from Belgium, and Flinder is a side project I first released in 2015. It started with a simple problem: you have a free afternoon, someone asks "what do you want to do?", and twenty minutes later you're still scrolling a map with nothing decided. Map apps are great once you know what you're looking for. Flinder is for the step before that. It checks your local time and the weather, then shows you ideas one at a time. On a rainy evening you'll see bowling or karaoke; on a sunny afternoon, parks and ice cream. Tap an idea and you get places nearby, closest first. The app has been rebuilt a few times over the years, and at one point it sat untouched for six years while people kept using it. Version 4.0 is the biggest update so far: • Set any city to see ideas for its local time and weather, before you even get there • Saved places, sorted into a folder per city • Full-screen photos and a bigger map • Shake your phone to start over What hasn't changed: no account, no sign-up, no ads, and your saved places stay on your phone.
