I’ve always been a hardcore gamer, but then two toddlers showed up and completely hijacked my free time. 😅 Nowadays, my gaming sessions are shorter, and I've shifted mostly to single-player games.

The problem? I kept discovering games I wanted to play, saving them randomly in Notes, WhatsApp messages, or loose screenshots—and completely forgetting about them. I looked for an existing app to track my backlog, but the current options felt either too non-intuitive, confusing, slow, stuck in an outdated UI, or just missing the features I actually wanted.

So, as a developer myself, I thought: why not build it myself? I wanted something fast, intuitive, appealing, clean, and with every feature I wanted. That’s how GameRoll was born—not just a tracker, but a full social network built for gamers, by gamers (well, just one for the moment! 😅).

Here is how GameRoll is structured:

📡 Radar: Stay updated with your friends' activity, gaming news, events, and "Pings" (story-like updates on what people are currently playing or doing).

🔍 Discovery: Smart recommendations based on your played games, hot games this week, most wishlisted, top-rated, latest and upcoming releases, time-to-beat metrics, and a deep search engine with filters and sorting.

🎲 My Roll: Manage your pending and playing games manually or spin the roll to let the app pick your next game when you're indecisive. Also, if you find a gaming post on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, or X, share it directly to GameRoll and it will find the game for you to add! Every game also keeps its own play history timeline and private notes.

💬 Social: Every game features a dedicated hub split into three independent tabs: Lobby (for threads and community debates), Game Info (summary, time to beat, developers, etc.) and Reviews (with ratings, hours played, and platform tags). Plus, connect with friends via 1:1 chat, join communities (with their own lobbies and group chats), and climb the weekly, monthly, and yearly rankings, with podium alerts when someone steals your spot and an exclusive Gamer of the Month medal for the #1.

🏆 Profile: Showcase your bio, unlocked medals (in the order you choose), game stats (pending, playing, dropped, completed, favorited, wishlisted), custom collections, activity history, and liked posts.

🆚 Compare: Open any friend's profile and see how you match: shared genres, platforms, hours played, games in common and your gamer compatibility score. Perfect to find your next co-op partner.

GameRoll fully supports 26 languages, with AI translation built right in for user-generated content and game information!

Right now, we are around 30 active users in the app, and I even hit a huge milestone: my very first monthly subscriber! 🥳 While GameRoll is free to use, I've added a few optional cosmetics and small features for those who want to support the project further.
