Gyuni Player is a macOS video player built for people who still feel something missing in other players with less intrusive controls, more intuitive viewing adjustments, and a more refined overall playback experience.

Gyuni Player
I made Gyuni Player for people who have used other Mac video players and still felt like something was missing. For me, the issue was never just features - it was the overall viewing experience. I wanted something more Mac-native, less intrusive, and more satisfying to actually watch with over time. That meant rethinking the UI, controls, image tone, and how common adjustments like framing and subtitles should feel in real use. There’s a fully unlocked 15-day trial, and I’d genuinely love to hear what feels better, what still feels missing, and what you’d want refined further.
media players rarely stand out anymore tbh. what’s the actual hook here under the hood

@aditi_saxena6 That’s fair, and that was honestly part of the reason I made it. A lot of players feel either too similar or visually outdated to me. And since I use a Mac, I also wanted something that felt more at home on macOS from a design point of view. I wanted one that looked better, but also felt more convenient and more powerful in actual use.
I wouldn’t claim it’s perfect, but I do think I got it to the level I personally wanted. In GP, the video stays cleaner, controls don’t keep popping up every time the mouse moves, and the right-click menu gives quick access to the things I use most. Small things like that add up and make the player feel less intrusive overall.
What were the biggest pain points in existing players that pushed you to rethink the experience? I mean once I maximize the screen in vlc it doesn't matter

@lak7 I see what you mean. If VLC already gives you everything you need and playback in full screen mode feels fine, then VLC is always a great player. For me, it was less about one feature and more about the overall viewing experience over time. GP does offer a few things even in fullscreen that I personally find useful, like thumbnail previews and a periodic time handle that appears briefly at intervals you choose, so you can tell where you are without doing much.
@gyuni I see! Demo looks cool nonetheless, will definitely give it a try!

@lak7 Cool, thank you! I’d really love to hear your thoughts after you try it. I didn’t go into every single feature because that would have become too long, but I built GP from the perspective of a long-time video player user myself, so I think some of those details may resonate once you spend a bit of time with it.
GP also has its own playback stack, and I put a lot of work into stability and performance. I can take almost any other criticism, but hearing that GP feels unstable or performs poorly would probably hit me the hardest, because I put a lot of care into getting that part right.
