I'm Griffin, the creator of Hackney. When you use ride-hailing services, you either need to enter your destination into multiple apps to compare prices, or check only one app and miss out on better deals. Over the past several months, I built this app so I can have a simple ride-hailing experience while receiving the best price.
In addition to helping you save during regular usage, Hackney helps you avoid surge pricing. When one ride-hailing provider has much higher fares due to surge, other providers might have less surge pricing or none at all. The app also supports Curb taxis, which don't do surge pricing.
For those who prefer Waymo, Hackney lets you choose Waymo when the price difference is small, but skip it when it's much more expensive. I've personally been able to use Waymo more often because the app finds me Waymo rides that are priced similarly to Uber and Lyft.
Hackney works by asking you to sign in to your ride-hailing accounts, and then it pulls prices through your accounts. This allows the app to show prices that reflect promotions and discounts available to you. Your login is stored locally on your phone, and the app communicates directly with the servers of each ride-hailing platform.
