Fast and secure, imgproxy resizes and processes images without using disk space. Available as OSS and a Pro version, itโs armed with object detection, video thumbnails, watermarking, and ML for smart cropping, blurring, and auto-quality.
imgproxy is a crazy fast image processing service we use widely, and it helps us work with thousands of images and videos at lightspeed. And hey, it's OSS!

An amazing product, I use it to process thumbnails on chirr.app and it works flawlessly ๐
One of those services that you install, configure, and forget. It just works.
Really neat product! For the object detection feature, do you ever plan on adding custom object detection by chance? Thanks and looking forward to giving this a try!
@iamkunkel Thanks, I'm so glad you like it!
Not sure what do you mean by "custom object detection". If you mean using your own model, then you can do it. We use Darknet YOLO architecture for object detection, so you can train your own model to detect whatever you want and use it with imgproxy Pro. If you not sure how to do it, just drop me a message, and I'll help you with it.
There are a bunch of technologies out there that solves a problem in a very elegant way while being rock-solid. These are the technologies you want to build your business on and ImgProxy is one of them.
At Iconfinder we switched to ImgProxy for all rendering of PNGs and other formats and we are very happy about the switch. I can only recommend ImgProxy to others.
I have deployed imgproxy at Iconfinder, replacing a big monolithic structure that was causing us a lot of trouble. Imgproxy is super flexible to configure and bend to your own needs, easy to run and scales beautifully. I have worked with Sergey on a few processing issues and he was very responsive and made the product even better.
Congratulations on the launch! I hope imgproxy will become even more popular.
๐ Salut, Product Hunt, Sergey here, creator of imgproxy!
At one time, we had the need to resize literally millions of user-generated images every day, and thus, imgproxy was born out of necessity. Back then, none of the existing solutions fit our speed and security requirements, so we had no choice but to create our own.
Today, imgproxy is trusted by thousands of users on projects of different scales โ from eBay and Photobucket, to numerous startups โ because it reduces costs and removes the restrictive requirement for saved images to conform to specific formats.

The open source version of imgproxy will remain FREE FOREVER, and for many businesses, thatโs all will ever be needed.
But imgproxy Pro takes you further and goes way beyond the basic features and simple optimizations. Version 3.0 is packed with some highly-requested machine learning features, including object-oriented crop gravity, blurring, drawing detection, and auto-quality by SSIM.

Built as a standalone image proxying tool, imgproxy replaces all the image resizing code inside your web applications (such as image processing tools, or resizing libraries). It takes advantage of probably the most efficient image processing library out thereโlibvips. It is supersonically fast, plus it comes with a tiny memory footprint. And, thanks to libvips, we can quickly and promptly process a massive amount of images.
imgproxy is packaged in a finely-tuned and updated Docker image that's ready to be deployed to your production environment.
Unlike other image processing tools (where a number of different operations are required for installation) imgproxy just takes 3 steps to launch:
1๏ธ. Install imgproxy.
2๏ธ. Upload images directly to the cloud or your cluster.
3. Request images by specifying parameters in the request URL.
We also provide some out-of-the box security features:
โ Image/zip bombs ๐ฃdetection and neutralization.
โ Cryptographic signatures for imgproxy URLs.
โ Authorization by HTTP header prevents direct use of your imgproxy server while also allowing a CDN or caching server to access it.
