Every trade has a few tools so entrenched they've become the default: Mitutoyo calipers, the Shure SM57, a Cambro. This register writes that knowledge down: 465 entries across 45 trades, written, contested, and voted on by the people who use them. Open to read, invite-only to write. An entry becomes a Recognized Standard at +10, every entry starts at zero, so the first standards will be decided by whoever shows up. No sponsors, no affiliate links.

Every trade has a small number of items so entrenched that they've become the de facto tool nearly everyone in that trade uses. Mitutoyo calipers. The Shure SM57. A Cambro. Ask a machinist, a sound engineer, or a line cook and they might name the same brands without hesitating.
Industry Standard Tools is that list: 465 entries across 45 trades so far, each one an argument about how a trade actually behaves, contested and voted on by the people who use the thing.
