Design-by-chat is promising but the devil is in the details. Most AI design tools generate something that looks good at first glance but falls apart when you need pixel-level control. How does the editing layer work, can you directly manipulate individual elements after the AI generates them, or are you stuck re-prompting? That handoff between AI generation and manual refinement is where most tools lose designers.
Love this direction. A lot of AI design tools look impressive at first, but the moment you want to actually edit the output, things fall apart. Generating structured, editable designs makes a lot more sense for real workflows. Curious to try Kodo and see how the canvas editing feels in practice.
The flat image problem is why most designers ignore AI tools entirely. You generate something nice, then realize you can't move a single element without starting over. Structured layers changes that. The draw-a-region approach for targeted edits is smart - it's how designers actually think about revisions. Not "redo the whole thing," but "fix this one section."
