INSANELY responsive developer!! will expand on this in the points below since the features I LOVE tie into how responsive the developer is
I'm currently a medical student who has started the clinical rotations, so not only is it a lot of learning a lot of names of conditions, drugs, therapeutics, etc on the fly, all of the drugs have both a brand name and a generic name, and then on top of that, every professional who uses the electronic medical record to record their notes on a patient and the care provided, will use abbreviations for the conditions, drugs, therapeutic procedures, etc.
Through mostly a variety of brainstorming/whining session (on my part):
I mentioned that being able to have Leafy reference MY personal list of words/phrases first when "scanning" a word or phrase would be incredible since medical abbreviations can have other meanings in other contexts (example: SOB should be "shortness of breath" not "son of a..." anyway) → I think within 5 days, the next update included that feature
I mentioned the new feature that referenced my list first was working perfectly! But that it might take me a bit to build my "vocab list" in Leafy and that there wasn't an easy way for me to transfer or import all the information into Leafy that was currently stored on my Anki deck (Anki is a flashcard app most med students heavily rely on for studying, where we can share premade content from other med students/doctors or make our own cards). → Now the current version of Leafy has an Anki integration so, with the settings appropriately adjusted, scanned words reference YOUR vocab list and/or YOUR anki deck information first to bring up all the information directly relevant to me in the context that I actually want to read it in. and if you don't have a card for it YOU CAN ADD IT DIRECTLY TO ANKI FROM WITHIN LEAFY
the fact that this all happens within the leafy pop-up window has made reading other provider notes on the EMR (electronic medical record) SO much less stressful! Being able to "translate" a summary statement of "78M hx HTN, HLD, CAD s/p CABG and multiple PCIs, CKD3 transferred from OSH after 2 episodes of right sided vision loss and imaging demonstrating severe stenosis of L ICA" without having to leave the screen is SUCH A GAME CHANGER.
I actually cannot rave enough about this app! the 3rd year of medical school is known to induce a good amount of crying from students just because of the sheer workload and volume of information you need to process both while studying and while trying to help care for patients in the hospital. I have probably cried closer to 1/4 as many times in a week just from the amount of time and frustration saved just having an easier time referencing the terms I need to know and it's making it 1000x faster for me to actually learn the terms!
