Most of what any of us read deserves to be skimmed. Entertainment, reference, the thing you needed one number from. Nobody should feel guilty about that, and there is no argument here that every article deserves an hour.
But some things are chosen differently. You save them because they might change a decision, a piece of writing, a lesson you have to teach, or the way you see something. Saving is a quiet declaration that this may matter later.
