Superb idea! Love to see an average quote (and perhaps lowest and highest quote) for forwarding a parcel from A to B instead of having to fill out a bunch of info first.
@sapphli Hey, thanks for your comment) That's a great insight, we'll think how to implement this option. We tried to make the request process as simple as possible though, so it shouldn't confuse you to fill in the data)

It looks like a great idea. In my experience, only a few US-based businesses can offer international shipping with a competitive shipping rate

Good:
-- If you transact with a good forwarder.
Bad:
-- Almost everything.
-- Parcel almost does nothing if there are problems between you and the forwarder.
-- Support is literally non-existent!
-- Ratings are unreliable. For example, *NEVER* use Eze Oji Dike -- he's a Nigerian scamster. He's got a Gold rating of 4.6 on Parcl, and I wonder how! So many complaints against him for non-deliveries, tampered packaging, stolen items, and using cheap freight services instead of DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc, and yet, he's still thriving on the platform!
-- The entire experience boils down to the forwarder you deal with. I suggest only choosing to work with forwarders who have many reviews and also to work with those who have only 4.9 and above.
Takeaway:
-- Stay away from this platform!

Another interesting "Uber-for..." concept! I don't see much that differentiates Parcl from other package-forwarding services (e.g. Stackry), though.

What would you think about background checking forwarders? Trusting any form of ID seems risky.
@kkdub Kelly, thanks. Yes, sometimes users refuse to upload their ID's and we understand it. At the moment we haven't thought of background checking, but we do have a rating system within our service that is designed to build trust between shoppers and forwarders. The rating system is based on a number of figures (how many deliveries the forwarder's successfully made, level of his profile completion, etc.), so we hope this feature helps eliminate risks.

@irinaakuzmina@kkdub I would love to participate, but uploading my ID to any kind of third party is completely out of question. In Germany and most likely the entire EU you will run into issues regarding data privacy and laws that protect this.
The only way around this would be to accept "blackened" IDs that only show photo, name, address, hence the data that would be used on your site anyways, but never the ID's number or place of issue and other personal data. At least this is the recommendation by our state's officials in regards to privacy.
In Germany even for onlinebanking or mobile phone contracts uploading your ID is not a viable solution. There is a service called PostIdent (https://www.deutschepost.de/en/p...), offered by the German Postal Service "Deutsche Post" that solves this issue elegantly.
It works like this: You submit a request for an identity check via this PostIdent service and your potential customer would have to visit a German post office in person (since this year they also provide videochat based verification). The identity of said person is verified in the office (photo, data etc.) and you will receive a verification statement, but not the actual ID's data.
There are other third party providers, such as http://www.idnow.eu/product, https://www.commocial.net/ and https://www.verify-u.de/, which basically do the same, but yet aren't as popular as PostIdent.
Do you accept blackened ID scans? That would be a first step without involving third parties.
Cheers
@boettges Peter, danke für die Nachfrage. Yes, we've already faced the issue when users refuse to upolad their ID's, and we do understand them. The service you've described looks good, but for now I don't see how to implement it within our project, there should be PostIdent in all countries then. And regarding blackened ID scans, I believe that they would work for us. Thank you for your insight, all the critical points are much appreciated! Stay in touch)
