@doomhammer it's like Myspace vs Facebook :) I'm sort of kidding, but there's some truth in that. On a very high level, it is similar. But there're a lot of critical improvements in information architecture, approach to integrations and supported feature set. Social products evolved a lot in the past 8 years since Discourse creation. And we learned a lot from that. For example, you don't host our instance yourself, we're a pure SaaS and do that for you. That makes installation and management much easier. We focus much more on a single clean feed so you don't have to jump between forum sections like in the past. And this feed is algo-sorted based on community feedback, so you see the best posts first (vs chronological nature of the old forums like Discourse). The list goes on, we have some of these things mentioned on our website.

@dberkowitz in a way it complements. We have partners who use us and Telegram or Discord. Messengers are great for quick synchronous communication (chatrooms). Discussion boards are great for longer form structured async (feeds). Like in a Facebook+Messenger (or Workplace+Workchat) combination. May be hard to change an already formed habit, but doable and worth the effort. Let me know if you'd like to chat more, happy to show some examples (my Telegram and Twitter are vernon99).

@temirlan not as of now. What would be the use case for that? Ie why would you embed that into Notion and not put it next to it? They have rich comments on everything. (Btw, we are big fans of Notion ourselves, running the whole company wiki, roadmaps, boards, etc on Notion)

@vernon99 there are a lot of people hosting websites on notion (https://fruitionsite.com/showcase, https://demo.super.so/5396731a9d...) but there are limited ways to run a community. there was a "forum template" but there is no way to curb spam and everyone needs a Notion account.
