"The fastest way to learn a language is to speak it from Day 1" - Although this might be a big barrier for people wanting to learn a new language, this is 100% true in my experience. I remember doing a job interview in Swedish. It was so horrible that I thought "it can't get any worse than this" and from that moment on I forced myself to speak. Hopefully with the help of PrettyPolly, people will take this step sooner! Great initiative, good luck CW

@mringenhousz Thanks for the comment Maarten. Completely agree - possibly the biggest barrier for learning languages is just the discomfort of making mistakes in front of people. Hopefully we can get rid of some of that

Wow! This is awesome! I remember learning French for a month in college on Duolingo to impress my girlfriend and I remember her looking at me as if I was having a stroke when I started speaking it 😆 I recently picked up German, will be checking this app out for the same.

Tested for a few minutes and, I must say, this looks very promising! It's familiar with current events and flow of conversation seems quite natural. I'll need to spend more time with this to get a better view, but one thing that already caught my eye is the translation. Not sure for other language, but for Georgian is looks a bit off sometimes. @razmikb @razmik_badalyan1 Thanks for the kind words Razmik and for the feedback on translation. The problem was that it hasn't been passing the context of the phrase (which can obviously affect the meaning of the individual word). This will be fixed in the next version (going out next week). Awesome idea with comprehensible input generator. I'll give it a go this week. Thanks so much again and let me know if you have any more feedback on PrettyPolly. It'll be getting a large update around 18th April so I hope it helps you learn.

@cwbuilds1 Looking forward to the updates. I have checked quite a few AI based language learning tools, and yours, even on this early stage, looks very promising. I'll definitely follow up with more in depth feedback. English learning tools are something I'm interested professionally. My team and I work on making education more accessible, in Georgia, and world wide. One of the main obstacles to education accessibility is the language barrier.

@razmik_badalyan1 Really appreciate it. Yeah - there are a lot of AI language-learning apps around and more popping up every month. Absolutely on the accessibility point with education. Learning English can also massively increase income for people in certain countries. It's such an important area and it feels like a shame that the best we have produced until now is Duolingo. Hopefully, we'll have a set of tools over the next 10 years that make world-class language learning accessible to everyone.

@sentry_co Thanks man! It actually already does that. If you click the "Stuck, get a hint" button, you can do a pronunciation assessment and it will give you a score out of 100, so you can practice until you nail it. Then you can try saying that phrase in the main conversation. Also, your pronunciation is taken into account in the fluency score, which you can see if you scroll down on your profile. Do you think it could be useful if you get some pronunciation corrections in the main conversation?

@cwbuilds1 I think more like. Practicing to gain a sort of tone. Accent. Like how a native English speak from UK or the US would speak. It's really hard for a lot of people to ditch their origin accent. Speaking with a British or US accent just adds that extra seriousness. People take you seriously etc. And how would one improve that? I think for me, I have a sort of hybrid us/uk accent. I think I gained it by a lot of exposure to audio books, and English tv from a young age. Also I worked abroad and travelled a lot. I think it could be trained as well. Like you get a sentence and you have to say it until you nail it and sound like a native speaker. and then you get another one and another one. and in the start you hear the teachers accent. and then your on your own later once you start nailing it. something like that.

@sentry_co Ah sorry, I see what you mean. There's actually a brilliant app for this called BoldVoice (@anada_lakra1). My understanding is that it's excellent if you're already proficient in the language and trying to perfect your accent. I've added your problem to our list though so I'll have a think about what we can do in the future to help. Thanks again for trying it out!
