This concept has been tried before I don't think anything has really taken off. For me it's hard to follow a chat convo vs a format like reddit. Chat works better with a few users
@matthui i think you are right re number of participants. thats why there is a clear separation between chatters and audience. still to follow a conversation you need to really care about it.
unlocking connections via a chat platform like this is a great idea! Love it. It's like insight into the hive mind whenever you want... fun to experiment with just for fun and for a purpose.
Great looking product. The concept is great. I really like how Public has put it all together in an easier to use app. I do find some of the conversations oddly addictive.
@drewmeyers there are more similarities than differences in my opinion. twitter is great for the firehose and spontaneous back-and-forth. Public is ideal for a more continuous, focused conversation between defined group
@drewmeyers if these type of chats will indeed occur and develop a loyal audience then it will follow the business models of other media businesses. if people value "content" they will either pay for it directly (subscription, one-time) or indirectly (ads). I don't know how it will evolve, but more focused on trying to understand whether we built something people actually need/want and enjoy.
