One of my friends asked if I could help them quickly move a few WordPress sites from an expensive managed WordPress hosting platform, to individual small Droplets on DigitalOcean. I took the challenge. After going through the migration procedure a couple of times, I soon had 4-5 different bash scripts serving me as helpers to do things like install software, update configurations, rsync application files, import the database, etc. Before moving the remaining sites, I rewrote all my gatherings into a CLI application written in Python. It was the first version of Sail, open source, under the GPL. I've been polishing and adding more features every day. Today with Sail you can: * Quickly provision WordPress applications * Manage your application domains and DNS, switch primary domains * Request and automatically install free SSL certificates from Let's Encrypt * Deploy and rollback application code atomically * Create full site backups locally * Quickly access and search server logs Sail is not a hosting provider, it's merely a tool and service. All your Sail applications are hosted on *your* DigitalOcean account, with full root access.
