With over 60,000 objects in our database and up to four years of space data, Satcat.com is designed to help you track, research, and experiment with satellites and their orbits.
Congratulations on the launch! I have been tirelessly browsing through various AI productivity products on Product Hunt, and I must say, it has been quite exhausting. However, I stumbled upon a fascinating satellite tracking and analysis application that really caught my eye! I believe this would be incredibly useful for professionals in this field.
@brandon_cccc Thanks Brandon!!! We're planning to utilize AI in a way to help accelerate usage of our platform rather than being front and center. More coming soon!

Unreal app, if your UI/ UX could improve abit, i give it 10/10. anyway congrats on the launch
Congratulations on the launch, Hyun and the team! Satcat's real-time satellite tracking sounds impressive. How do you handle the updates for decayed or newly launched satellites in such a large database?
@kirill_markin Thank you so much Kirill! So we currently update our trajectory (in TLE format) database twice a day. Separately, we update our satellite catalog twice a day.
The trajectory database obviously expands more and more as time goes on; so we time-bucket them in the database by year and month.
Thank you for the interest and happy searching!
@sheikhirfan10 Hey Sheikh, thank you for your comments. I would say that a lot of applications heavily focus on their "Dots on a globe" visualizations (I don't blame them, it's easy to get started and it's pretty) while Satcat focuses primarily on the search experience!
I mean with dots on a globe, you spin it around, click on a few dots and go "huh that's neat" and that's probably over... Other sites like N2YO.com and Heavens-above.org for example provide a lot more information (although I don't agree with their UX practices).
We also bring in more than just Space-track data (big hitters like Celestrak, N2YO, Heavens-above and including us, get all of our data from Space-track.org). Space-track.org primarily provide trajectory data and most of the satellite metadata. However we utilize sources like Jonathan McDowell's excellent GCAT data which enables the "Launch vehicle" and "Owner". In the end, the combination provides a much richer search experience for the user.
congratulations on the launch of satcat, hyun and dk. the ability to track and analyze satellites in real time opens up numerous possibilities. i'm curious, how does satcat ensure the accuracy of satellite tracking data, considering the number of objects and the frequent changes in orbits? looking forward to exploring your platform.
@mashy Hi Albert,
The tracking data is publicly provided by the US government's sensor network, in the form of Two-Line Element (TLE) sets. The accuracy of this public data grows by roughly 1 km of positional error per day, which is sufficient for these types of visualizations and analyses.
At Kayhan Space, we do not use TLEs for operational spaceflight safety; instead we use high-accuracy propagation from state vectors produced by our orbit determination software.
Thank you for your support, and happy to answer more questions!
Satcat.com appears to be an exceptional tool for individuals intrigued by space. With its real-time tracking, 3D globe and comprehensive historical data, the remarkable features will significantly benefit satellite operators, astronomers as well as space enthusiasts. The innovative design of this unified platform within the industry is impressive and commendable from Kayhan Space who has made such a valuable resource both accessible to all and available at no cost! 🚀🛰️
