If generating code is a commodity, then what is built, and how is the most critical question to answer.
This is the goal of Shotgun - to help you turn technical research and spec generation into context for software engineers, AI code-gen tools like Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, with complete codebase understanding, and agents doing the heavy lifting.
Shotgun produces clean, reusable artifacts and exports to the agents.md ecosystem to help you get the most out of code-gen tools and Agents.

This is insanely good - and like every great product, it feels ...absurdly obvious in retrospect. Finally, something to end the ‘toy demo’ era and help people build actual production-ready products.
Best thing I've seen here for a while.
Shotgun CLI
@_pattonik Thanks so much, Pat 🙌 That’s exactly the pain we’ve been chasing — moving past “toy demos” into specs that actually capture intent and can be built on. Excited to hear how it fits into your workflow once you give it a spin!

yeeeehaaaw! super cool! had a chance to play with shotgun already, gonna keep it in my stack 🤠
Shotgun CLI
@kyzo Yeehaw 🤠 love hearing that, Kamil! Pumped that Shotgun earned a spot in your stack already. Out of curiosity — what kind of projects are you thinking of using it on first?
Shotgun CLI
@kyzo We’ve just released the beta version (codebase understanding, export to agents.md, modes - research, spec, planning, tasks, export).
Up for testing? https://github.com/shotgun-sh/shotgun-alpha

Awesome app, I've had the opportunity to use it several times when building prototypes in Claude Code and Replit, and it saved me a lot of time each time!
Shotgun CLI
@daniel_gaszczyk Thanks a lot, Daniel 🙏 Stoked to hear it saved you time in Claude + Replit!!
Congrats on the launch. Everybody is saying that future of coding is no coding and it can be true but only if specification will be significant, that’s why I strongly believe in Shotgun success.
Congrats on the launch @barticz Shotgun is an amazing product saving me tons of time when building with AI!
Shotgun CLI
@jpnagel Thanks so much, Julian 🙌 Awesome to hear it’s already saving you time — that’s the gap we wanted to close: less time wrestling with fuzzy prompts, more time actually building.
Just tested Shotgun with a legacy repo, blew my mind how quickly it shaped raw ideas into solid specs. The multi-agent setup actually feels like a real crew mapping it all out. Cursor export was seamless too.
I now know two AI coding tools called Shotgun, it seems everyone will be confused, we need to do something about it.
