We only use GPT-5.6 for one narrow thing: real-time AI citation checking. Before this, there was no practical way to know if ChatGPT would actually cite a page - you could only guess from backlinks and rankings, and our own data shows those explain less than 5% of what gets cited by AI engines. Now, every scan sends GPT-5.6 the same query a real searcher would type and checks whether it cites the exact page being audited, live, in seconds. That's the part that wasn't practical before: querying the model itself as ground truth, at scan-time, for every page, instead of publishing a monthly benchmark report. We deliberately don't use GPT-5.6 for content generation or rewrites elsewhere in the product - just this one citation check, run alongside Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, so we're reporting what actually happens instead of what we assume happens.
