Wu is a code editor for people who want the speed of a native app and the familiarity of VS Code.

Wu
Hey everyone 👋
I wanted an editor that felt like VS Code but ran like a native app. Nothing out there did both, so I forked Zed to build Wu.
It opens instantly, stays fast on big files, and uses less memory than VS Code or Zed. The UI and defaults are set up to feel like VS Code, so you can switch without relearning anything. There's no account and no telemetry. And there are no built-in AI features, so you bring your own agent or harness.
I'd love to hear your feedback about what's missing or what could improve. Thanks for checking it out!
Is the interface customizable enough for developer who prefer their own keyboard shortcuts and layouts?
The VS Code familiarity is a good starting point. How easy it to migrate an existing setup to Wu?
I wonder how well the editor handles integrated terminals and debugging workflows compared to VS Code.
