How do you add friction to your signup flow without killing conversion rates?

It's so tempting to keep the front door wide open so anyone can jump in and try your app in two clicks. The downside is that you end up with hundreds of random signups who churn instantly because your product doesn't fit their actual workflow.

We started adding a quick two question onboarding survey just to understand who they are and it surprisingly scared away a lot of the bad-fit traffic.

What specific qualification steps or friction points did you add to your signup process to protect your product roadmap from the wrong feedback?

Do you cap retries at 2 or give it a third chance?

LLMs getting stuck in execution loops is such a huge headache when building DB tools.

We had a similar issue with API retries where the agent kept tweaking minor parameters forever. Capping it at two attempts and routing the failure directly to Slack is a solid circuit breaker.

In our setup, we usually allow two retries with an exponential backoff before killing the thread completely.

How do you handle the Slack notification does a developer jump in and manually correct it or just kill the process?

How do you deal with cold outreach reply overload without going crazy?

Thought getting people to reply to outreach emails was going to be the hardest part but site owners actually respond pretty fast.

The real bottleneck turned out to be managing hundreds of back-and-forth threads checking link placement and negotiating terms. Plus going direct ended up way cheaper than agency marketplace rates.

How do you guys manage high-volume email replies when a small team gets flooded?
