Should AI agents have names?

Our AI employees have names. Peter is an SDR, Kavya sells insurance, Arjun is a loan officer, Priya handles renewals.

We did it because customers found it easier to talk about "Peter's pipeline" than "the lead qualification workflow." Teams started treating the agents like colleagues with a job, which made it easier to define what each one owns.

The Agent Broke Production and Passed All Tests

A dependency update the agent suggested worked locally and in CI. It broke production because the production environment had a different version of a peer dependency. The agent checked package.json. It didn't check what was actually installed.

Now I run npm ls after any dependency change and compare against the lockfile. What's a green build that lied?

Deleting my side project felt like a breakup and I'm not okay

Spent four months on something that was never going to work. knew it for at least two of those months. kept going anyway because quitting felt like admitting i wasted the time.

Deleted the whole repo last week. it was weirdly emotional. like closing a door on a version of myself who really believed in it.

The thing is i don't actually regret the four months. i learned more from that failure than from anything that worked. i just wish i had been honest with myself two months earlier instead of pretending.

How long do you hold on before you call it? and does it ever get easier?
